Vick Chew Toy - Pet Organization Support

http://www.vickchewtoy.com

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving Holiday!

Now that we have moved on from last Thursday on to the “official” Holiday shopping season I was recently reminded of a ground roots movement that surfaced again this year. Several messages have been launched about support for local businesses, especially those that do business over the internet. Sunday is the kick off to “cyber week”, a time where online orders are prompted and promoted.

I love the message about supporting local business. However, I want to encourage an expansion on the message. I would like to promote that all also consider support for local and national organizations that care for our neglected and abused pets.

Along with support of local small business merchants we must also consider organizations that do not sell, but rather support. There are thousands of them out there, many that we have helped recognize and support through our Bark For Awareness Campaign and other efforts. Small donations are so very valued by your local pet rescue groups and donations often make or break their ability to perform the valued services that they do each and every day.

As you make your Holiday shopping plans, I encourage you to keep your local pet organization in mind. If you can purchase from a local small business, please do. If you can donate to a local small organization, please do! A bag of food, a small cash donation, anything you can help with will help these great organizations to continue their service to your community.

As always, The Official Vick Dog Chew Toy will continue to promote and support these great organizations and celebrate those that help us give back. Please help us to continue to raise awareness of the impacts animal abuse and neglect pose to our beloved pets and do what you can to continue your support.

I want to thank our loyal followers for your 4th year of support for The Official Vick Dog Chew Toy. We continue our efforts through the unyielding love and dedication of Pet Lovers everywhere! Please continue to show your support.

Thanks for all you do.

Bark For Awareness Give Away 2011

NFL Lockout got you down? Thinking whether or not they will play this year? Today’s news was encouraging and with the NFL Lockout coming to a close, we could be seeing a signature as soon as Monday. We are wondering if our dog loving fans would like us to continue our tradition for the upcoming season. Bark For Awareness Give Away has donated hundreds of Official Vick Dog Chew Toys to pet rescues, pet humane societies, and pet organizations throughout the United States for two consecutive NFL seasons. Our mission is to bark as loud as we can towards animal abuse and is our way of giving back to those that help pets everyday.

Here’s how it works. Organizations register with us weekly to be eligible to win. Once they are registered, we then list the organizations into a voting process. The Philadelphia Eagles are our target for the entire 2011-12 NFL Football season and we want the OPPONENTS to win every single time. The number of Official Vick Chew Toys that are donated is based on the number of touchdowns scored AGAINST the Philadelphia Eagles. Maybe we should switch it up this year to give away a chew toy for every Michael Vick sack!!! Once the game has ended, we look to our fan base, over 25,000 strong and ask you to vote for the organization you think should receive the proceeds. Simple in concept and keeps the momentum going for having fun, raising awareness, and giving back to the people dedicated to pets.

The question that we have for this year’s season is, Do we give away the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy for every touchdown or for every Michael Vick Sack? The response over the last two years has been great, but our goal is to have this year’s event bigger than the previous two. We will leave it up to you, the dog loving fans. We have set up a poll for you on our facebook page. We hope to see you there, hope to see some registrations, and hope the NFL Owners and Players come to an agreement Monday!

Thank you for the continued support.

Just Chew It. Nike Made a Mistake.

You have heard the news about Nike re-signing Michael Vick, but now it’s time to show your disgust with Nike. Just Chew It T-Shirts are now available. Two different styles are available and pick your color or size that fits any dog loving fan.

Nike re-signed Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick to an endorsement deal Friday, nearly four years after dropping him amid his legal troubles.
Nike, which signed Vick as a rookie in 2001, terminated his contract in August 2007 after he filed a plea agreement admitting his involvement in a dogfighting ring. Vick spent 21 months in prison.

“Michael acknowledges his past mistakes,” Nike said in a statement. “We do not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field.”
Vick was voted The Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year after missing two seasons and playing sparingly in 2009.

“Michael is committed to working with Nike and wants to utilize his platform as a professional athlete to have a positive impact on our youth,” said Andrew Stroth, the Chicago-based attorney who negotiated the deal for Vick.

Nike and Vick initially renewed their relationship in 2009, when the company announced it had “agreed to supply product” to the quarterback, who was not under contract. Nike has similar agreements with several athletes with whom they don’t have endorsement deals.
Vick signed a one-year contract with the Eagles in March, a few weeks after being designated as the team’s franchise player. He led the Eagles to a 10-6 record and the NFC East title after replacing an injured Kevin Kolb in Week 1.

Despite missing three games with an injury, Vick re-established himself as one of the most exciting players in the NFL. He set career highs with 3,018 yards passing, 21 touchdown passes, nine touchdowns rushing, a 62.6 completion percentage and a 100.2 passer rating.
