Monday, October 19th, 2009

Welcome Back Official Vick Dog Chew Toy Fans! Week 6 of the NFL season is history, and so is week 6 of the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy Bark for Awareness Give Away!

First, my apologies for not including an update after week 5. We made some technical changes to our site and hosting platform. I apologize for any inconvenience. For the hundreds of Official Vick Dog Chew Toy Fans that contacted us asking if the contest is still up and running? Let me say, YES! And bigger than ever.

The changes we made were based on the need to accommodate the ever increasing interest from all of you. Keep It Up!

So, perhaps we need to change the name of the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy to RU-fficial Vick Dog Chew Toy! For the third week in a row Rugaz Rescue was the top vote getter in the Bark for Awareness Give Away. When I say commanding, I am talking about a run away! Rugaz Rescue won week 5 by collecting 74% of the vote. Apparently, that was not enough for Rugaz. They followed up their winning effort by taking 75% of the vote in week 6! Congratulations to Rugaz Rescue!

Rugaz Rescue was featured after their first win in week 4. Rugaz does some really great work for our pets each and every day. Aim To Beginn salutes Rugaz in their efforts and are very proud and honored to be a part of their ongoing venture to protect and care for man’s best friend.

Along with the announcement of the week 5 and 6 winners, I am also very proud and excited to announce the first of what will be consecutive “special theme” weeks for the Bark for Awareness Give Away. I appreciate the interest, the effort, the things that everyone does daily in their efforts to support our endeavor to give back and raise awareness. In an effort to contribute more, the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy Bark for Awareness Give Away is going to be enhanced. Enhancements feature an even more aggressive dog give away campaign that is designed to increase the awareness of great organizations that support our common goal. I also want to do everything I possibly can to broadcast the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy and spread the word and prevent animal abuse.

Week seven’s theme is, “NO LOSERS”. EVERY organization that is registered for the Bark for Awareness Give Away in week 7 of the NFL football season is guaranteed at least ONE FREE Vick Dog Chew Toy. Of course, the winning vote getter will still receive their free toys in accordance with the contest guidelines. It is our way of showing our appreciation for those organizations that participate in the contest, but more importantly work daily to protect our pets.

So, week 6 is in the books and the Eagles took a hard one on the chin. The Eagles lost to the Raiders in a big upset. Not only did Mike Vick not score, no one from the Eagles was able to punch in a TD. This is the first time this year that the Eagles failed to score a TD, and presents an unusual situation for the Bark for Awareness Give Away. As we did during the bi-week for the Eagles, we want to distribute to the winning vote getter. Even though the Eagles did not score, TWO FREE Official Vick Dog Chew Toy’s are on their way to Rugaz Rescue.

I appreciate your interest and your participation. Thanks for all you do.

Sincerely,

Darren Usher

What a week! If you have been following The BARK FOR AWARENESS GIVE AWAY, you are without a doubt familiar with Country Acres Rescue. They won both week 1 AND week 2 of the Bark for Awareness campaign.

Two veteran organizations really battled it out in week 3. They took on each other and man handled the majority of the votes. The contenders were The Baltimore Humane Society going toe to toe with Rugaz Rescue. These two organizations made up 60% of the total votes cast and in the end, it was the Baltimore Humane Society edging out Rugaz Rescue by just 6% of the vote. Congratulations to the Baltimore Humane Society! BHS has been very close in both week 1 and week 2 and now in week 3 they found the magic and found enough votes to take home FREE Official Vick Dog Chew Toys brought to you by Aim To Beginn, LLC!

How did you secure the domain name for Vick Dog Chew Toy?

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Having a mission, concept, goals and a name for your product are all good things. Having an actual product is critical. So how do we evolve the idea to a marketable product that supports the mission? Interesting story.

I thought the story, idea, mission and product were all good ideas. But if I was the only one, I would not have accomplished much. The first step was to identify the advertising and sales channel for the product. Brick and mortar locations are expensive and difficult to get in a moments notice. The internet offers a public stream of information that can quickly advertise your idea and product and offer you the opportunity to sell and ship without having to secure office or warehouse space. Here is the story of how we went about gauging public response to the idea of the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy.

First, you have to have a domain name. A quick search found that others had a similar idea as I did based upon the domains that were already secured. Domains such as, dogslovevick.com, dogsbitevick.com, and vickdog.com were already secured. The individuals that secured these names are called, “Squatters”. These are people that search the internet for interesting stories, stories that they feel are going to be big topics, then secure domain names based on what the media is sharing. Most squatters never build an actual website with their new domain name. They secure the name for the purpose of selling their newly acquired domain name to others that are interested in creating a website. Squatters buy the domain name for little money and then sell the name to you for hundreds of dollars. There is a very real marketplace for squatters and you might even call them “day traders”. As a domain squatter, you have to be on your game and be constantly informed and act quickly to turn a buck.

The ultimate goal is to outsmart these squatters. That is exactly what I was able to do. A quick check for vickdogchewtoy.com and I found that it was available. I grabbed it immediately. A mistake that I will regret and will detail in future blog entries.

So, you have a domain name. No one ever succeeded in business with just a domain name. What next? An INCREDIBLE burst of activity and very high level attention. Oh, and sales as well! That story is next.

I appreciate your interest in my story.
