The Official Vick Dog Chew Toy Story – Build Me – NOW!

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Welcome back to The Official Dog Blog. Aim To Beginn, LLC is documenting the creative concept of the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy through the internet. There are many stories about how the concept was created, but there is only one way to know the truth: listen to the inventor of The Official Vick Dog Chew Toy!

Thank you for coming back! It has been a few weeks since our last blog entry featured actual and factual stories of The Official Vick Dog Chew Toy. I apologize for the layoff. We have been very busy with the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy Bark for Awareness Campaign.

When I have a choice between promoting the original and ongoing vision and mission of the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy and Aim To Beginn, and telling the story of the Official Vick Toy, I will always choose to promote the current efforts. When I have an opportunity to further the awareness and promote the Toy for the greater good of which was the initial intent, I will always favor the give back route. This goes to the core of my initial intent. To put first what can be told later instead of what can be done now would not support and would contradict the ongoing mission of the Official Toy. Those that have been writing and waiting for further entries concerning the history and story behind the Official Toy: I hope you understand and support the choice.

Now, with all that said, let’s get back to the true stories of the product and how the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy came to life! We have some time between organizational promotions, so let’s take advantage.

When we last spoke of the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy I published, for the first time ever, the preliminary cast mold of what would later become the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy. The reason for my publication of the copywrite images is documented in the blog entry titled, “Official Vick Dog Chew Toy – MAKE ME!” So, let’s move on to the next step.

Make Me Now! So, we have a mold and we have a product that resembles exactly what we initially promoted, which was very important to me. We now have to find a manufacturer that could produce this product.

Using our previously established contact, we shipped our mold with the hopes of having a product by September 2007. I was told this product manufacturing and delivery would not be an issue, and I communicated this through the website. A few Dog supporters were growing tired of not having their product when we initially advertised, and we directed any and all that were no longer interested to our refund option through Paypal. A few did request and were granted a refund, but more just wanted the satisfaction of communication as to the status of their order. Very few refunds were requested as a result of the initial delay.

I do not remember what day it was, but I believe it was in late August of 2007. I distinctly remember the early story on the morning news: “Major China manufacturers shut down due to lead paint concerns”.

Could this impact Aim To Beginn’s efforts? A quick message hit me that major toy manufacturer imports, such as Mattel and others, were being suspended. At first: shock and disappointment. However, upon later evaluation of the situation we found that this was a blessing in disguise. Aim To Beginn, LLC would never want to produce a product that could potentially harm those that we are working hard to represent and protect. If the toys could not be delivered with an official certification of safety, we do not want them. I told the manufacturer exactly that. Development and all manufacturing were canceled at my request and the official mold of the product was put on the shelf. Cannot guarantee safety? Cannot make my product. HALT PRODUCTION IMMEDIATELY was my immediate communication.

So what next? Our next entry will detail how we found a new manufacturer and will also feature the critical evidence of safety that you need in order to promote your product with integrity and confidence that it is completely safe.

I appreciate your interest in my story.

Official Vick Dog Chew Toy – MAKE ME!

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Welcome back to The Official Dog Blog. Aim To Beginn, LLC is documenting the creative concept of the Official Vick Dog Chew toy through the internet. There are many stories about how the concept was created, but there is only one way to know the truth: listen to the inventor of the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy!

Creativity is something that often comes out when you desperately need it. Often, you find that you can do amazing things when absolutely needed. That is exactly what I found when trying to come up with a prototype. My previous Official Dog Blog entry conveys the physical compound and make up. This entry covers the challenge with production.

Once both are worked out, a prototype is necessary. A prototype, or “mold”, is required by any manufacturer in order for them to create a cast iron prototype of which the product will be constructed. This is it! Once submitted there is no turning back. You may own the prototype, but the product produced will be the exact replica of your efforts and submission.

There are two critical steps within this process, of which neither can be dismissed:

1) YOU have to create something that closely resembles the likeness of your intent. If you advertised a product, you better have a prototype that closely resembles what you advertised. Anything less will simply not cut it! This is your idea and represents your concept.
2) Unless you are an artist, familiar with clay, paper mache, or some other element, (I failed 6th grade art class), you better find a way to create the product that you plan to submit to the public. It does not have to be perfect, your manufacturer can often help, but it MUST be close to what you want.

At this time I spent many long nights working on the concept. Once that was created, I immediately sought out the assistance of the company that committed on delivery of the product I submitted.

I had a pretty good mold; one that represented the original advertised product and one that we thought would catch on good with the advertising that we initially constructed. More importantly, one that we thought would have staying power. I cannot stress this enough: I invented the Michael Vick Dog Chew Toy to raise awareness and create a dog chew toy that would outlast the public outcry. My efforts were geared around keeping the awareness of animal abuse in the public mind, far beyond the troubles that the news was presenting.

I HAD IT! The Official Vick Dog Chew Toy was born! A dog chew toy that all could be proud of, one that was exactly as advertised and most importantly one that would last beyond the temporary attention given to this situation by the media.

The images you are about to see are the first ever published. I have never before presented the prototype models of the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy. I present these images for three key reasons:

1) I want the public to know that I was the original inventor of The Official Vick Dog Chew Toy. I created and own the mold.
2) I want you to see how closely the original prototype is to the product that we presented as The Official Vick Dog Chew Toy. Sell only what you can produce.
3) You will notice slight differences in the prototype vs. the final chew toy concept. For instance, the position of the ball. This is where a quality manufacturer comes in to play. The suggestion to move the ball in to the body of the toy was both safer for the dogs that would enjoy the chew toy and cut costs on manufacturing. Critical feedback that a novice dog chew toy inventor would and did value.

Here is the original Vick Dog Chew Toy mold submissions:
