Week 11 Winner ~ Bark For Awareness Give Away

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Why in the heck am I excited about week 11 of the NFL season? It is definitely not because of my Redskins’ performance. I am excited because week 11 was the closest week yet! The winner was determined by ONE PERCENTAGE POINT! On top of that the voting is increasing and so is the awareness.

I love it! I love the attention you bring, the commitment to voting, and I am very proud of all the contestants that we have in the contest. When we set up this weekly giveaway this is exactly what we envisioned. Committed organizations helping to get out the word to raise awareness and help generate attention and funds so that each great group could continue the efforts to give back. Awesome!

So which organization squeaked out the win in week 11? I am proud to announce that not only was it the closest win thus far, but it was also the first win for Atlanta Bully Rally! A total of 188 votes were cast for Atlanta Bully Rally and that was just enough to get them over the top! Congratulations.

The Eagles scored 3 touchdowns in week 11. Although the Eagles were able to beat the once mighty Bears, Mike Vick once again failed to help out the effort. Is karma in play? We have yet to send two Official Vick Dog Chew Toys out for a Vick TD. Dogs have sniffed many more hydrants than Vick has sniffed goal lines of late. Could this be a case of, “what comes around goes around”? We shall see……

Week 12 is next. The Eagles are still in the mix for a potential playoff spot. If that is the case, the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy Bark For Awareness Campaign will also make a playoff run. The contest will continue as long as the Eagles have games to play.

Get the votes going. Vote often. Promote your organization. As Atlanta Bully Rally can attest, EVERY vote counts. Use the Bark For Awareness Campaign to drive interest and awareness for YOUR organization. Use the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy to generate revenue. Some suggestions from others are:

• Hold a fund raiser. Have people bid for the Official Vick Dog Chew Toy as a way to promote charitable donations.

• Use your profile on our website as a way to generate awareness to your organization. If you are involved with the Bark For Awareness Campaign you should have that mentioned on your site. www.officialvickdogchewtoy.com generates over 8,000 visits per month on average. Get in front of that traffic!

• Use the free products you receive as a model for your organization. The Official Vick Dog Chew Toy has been elevated as a symbol that represents defiance to those that abuse helpless animals. Stand behind and support what the product represents and show others that you connect with each day that you are vehemently against those that mistreat and profit from animal abuse.

Thanks for your interest and please let us know if we can assist you in any way.

I appreciate your interest and what you do each and every day.

The ongoing but final saga of the rogue partner!

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

I appreciate your interest in my story.

To recap: Toys delayed, communication continues. Rouge partner wants to hire someone to make caps, t-shirts, wrist bands. Rouge partner announces this in front of our manufacturing partners during a scheduled meeting, while wearing the ridiculous attire.

Somehow I was able to get past the direct question of the CEO of our chosen manufacturer. After several apologies I asked that they submit a mock up of what they suggest as alternative products and commit to them that they will receive first consideration on any products related to The Official Vick Dog Chew Toy, as well as the Aim To Beginn mission and vision. He was not happy, but agreed. This really put us in a difficult situation and challenged what began as a very positive relationship.

After the meeting, I met with the rouge employee and did my best to explain the aspects of business 101. I also made mention of the fact that nothing that he was wearing would ever be sold under the Aim To Beginn, LLC name. It was simply cheap and embarrassing. The rouge partner objected, but in the end agreed with the decision to focus on production of the core product and nothing else until all orders was fulfilled.

Interesting call #2:
Darren Usher: Hello?
Rouge Partner: It’s me, (name withheld).
Darren Usher: What’s up?
Rouge Partner: I contacted a US manufacturer that can get us a toy in 4 weeks.
Darren Usher: I did not think that we could find a US based manufacturer that could product the hollow cavity toy we are advertising?
Rouge Partner: I found one. They just need to know the consistency of the rubber we are using.
Darren Usher: I have that, but can they produce a hollow cavity toy like the one we advertised?
Rouge Partner: They have to make it solid.
Darren Usher: That is not what we advertised.
Rouge Partner: But is till look exactly the same. It will just be a solid toy. We can offer it as an alternative to those that have orders pending and want the toy now.
Darren Usher: If it is not what we advertised and they paid for, we will not offer it.
Rouge Partner: Can I meet with you and show you the mold?
Darren Usher: Sure. Let’s meet now.

The meeting was less than eventful. The rouge partner showed up with several samples of rubber that the manufacturer supplied. In addition, the rouge partner produced an alternative image that he wanted to use so that we could product a toy now. I questioned the rubber. It was way too tough, hard, and unfriendly especially to smaller dogs. Then the image. It looked NOTHING like what we originally advertised. The image that the rouge partner presented as plan B was cheap, unrealistic, a childish concept, and in no way an accurate representation of what we were trying to produce. I told the rouge partner no. No way was this to be produced.
Next entry: what happens when a person hears “No”?
