Jeter Enjoys The Official Vick’s Dog Chew Toy™!

Hi Everyone,

As a very LONG time Red Sox fan, it becomes harder and harder to write about some of the stories that I have received. This particular story is about Jeter, a 1 yr old Chocolate Labrador Retriever that is a huge baseball fan and his favorite team is the New York Yankees. Go figure! After we spoke with the owner directly and had a heart to heart talk about the recent success of the Boston Red Sox and how this year will be no different. I thought that I would share some of the story with you. Jeter Loves The Official Vick's Dog Chew ToyJustin said “My favorite player is Derek Jeter with the New York Yankees and when I first looked at the dog, I just thought to myself, what a great name, Jeter” Well, even we have to admit that Derek Jeter is a great player and we have to give much respect to the New York Yankee organization for all the success they have HAD in the past. I think that the future for the Boston Red Sox organization will be successful for a long time and can’t wait for the rivalry games this year.

Justin couldn’t let it go and continued the smack talk like a true Yankee fan and said, “Hey, you never know, this year could be the start of the next 100 year drought for the Boston Red Sox. We have Johnny Damon now and that could have the same effect as a Babe Ruth trade.” Well, I can bust that theory right away since the Boston Red Sox have already won a World Series title, without Johnny Damon. Putting Fun into Fund Raising!

A great story from a labrador supporter named Magerk. The Official Vick’s Dog Chew Toy™ has been to many places, but sometimes a story like this hits home as the very essence of why we created this endeavor. Our previous post was recently updated by The Baltimore Sun reporter John Woestendiek.

Courtesy of The Baltimore Sun ~ John WoestendiekThe article stated: “The raffle winners, Jason Powell and Ann Marie Morhiser, took it home and gave it to their Labrador, Magerk, a 1 1/2-year old Labrador the engaged couple adopted from Maryland Lab Rescue and named after the Federal Hill bar in which they met.

Here’s a report from Ann Marie, who works as fifth-grade teacher in Ellicott City:

“She loves the toy and carries it (now just the head) around with her all the time. She even sleeps with it!

“Magerk got the toy last Thursday and each day she destroyed a little bit more. First it was one leg, then the next, and then his torso. All that is left is his head and shoulders. She is still chipping away at it but is struggling to keep her grip as the toy has decreased in size.

“She never ate the pieces, she just spit them on the floor. For the past week we have been picking up tiny remains of the convict. For Magerk, this toy lasted roughly the same amount of time as the rest of her toys. She loves to chew (luckily for us she only chews her toys!)”

Thank you to the Morhiser’s family and John Woestendiek, for writing back and telling the story.
